When Van Morrison sings of "Jimmy Rogers on the box" he's obviously not talking about "the box" being LAST .fm's scrobbler because it NEVER picks up ANY music played from iTunes/iPid EVER!

People need to recognize more songs by Jimmie Rodgers (the original one) than "T for Texas" and "Muleskinner". "Hobo Bills' Last Ride", "Mississippi Blues" and "Nobody Knows But Me" are my favorites.

All the way back in the 20's he embraced blues, folk and jazz as elements to the first distinctively country music. It's sad that so many times since then those influences were forgotten by the largest part of the so-called country musicians.

Terrific artist whose recordings were a staple during the 'baby boomer' years of the 50s & 60s. So many fond memories. For those seeking more details, INFO & biography & wish to leave online virtual memorial, please see www.findagrave.com <click on Famous Grave Search & enter his name. Rest In PEACE. God bless~!

If your name is Jimmie Rodgers, and you wanna play music, suck it up and change your name. Even David Bowie changed his name cause of the guy from the Monkees. The Monkees! Jimmie Rodgers deserves a lot more respect than David Jones. It's showbiz! Get your own damn name.
