  • Sleepless nights and Angels

    Angel
There are times when you feel tired, but you know that If you go to bed, you won't be able to close your eyes and shut the f*cking mind up. And those moments are the most disturbing ones, since almost always the main causer is conscience. God, all of the dirty, nasty, bad things you did last 20 years will come to your mind and start digging it from inside. Only few days ago I noticed that stinking about somebody you love helps to get rid of those thoughts. Just imagine the smile of the most precious person in the world and you'll feel better. That's why this person is an angel.
<<< Angel came down from heaven yesterday, he stayed with me just long enough to rescue me>>>

First Rays of the New Rising Sun by Jimi Hendrix

So this is the album Hendrix was supposedly working on when he died. I have my doubts that this is anywhere near what the finished product would have actually been but nonetheless, they are complete recordings of apparently finished songs so we'll take what we can get. I've never thought the stuff Hendrix did after The Experience was very good. There are a few songs that hold up ok to that material but most of it is really sub-par. Here, Freedom, Izabella, Night Bird Flying, Angel, Drifting and maybe Dolly Dagger and My Friend are worth a listen but if this is the direction Hendrix's music was heading, it's probably good for his career that he died when he did.

  • Jaurim - The Youth Admiration

    14 Aug 2006, 23:28 by helikoppter

Jaurim was one of the first more alternative Korean bands I came across. I just love Kim Yuna's voice and I have no complaints on their song material. That is until I encountered last years cover album...

I prefer when a cover is made as if it was the covering artist's own song. This brings a new dimension to the song and if done well it might even turn out better than the original. Of course I can understand that an artist would like to try another style, and sees a chance to do so with a cover. But right now I can't think of any such cover that I'd listen to rather than the real thing. My issues with Jaurim's remake album is that it falls under the latter cathegory.

There's fifteen songs in total on this album. Out of those I'd say only three holds to the usual Jaurim standard, and those are all remade Jaurim songs... The title track, 청춘예찬, is the fourth album song #1 in a new arrangement (featuring Hareem on Irish whistle and bodhran!) with new all Korean lyrics. …
  • My Top 10 Songs on Last.fm

    8 Jul 2006, 18:19 by xplosiv

To start off i would just like to say sorry for the amount of Hendrix songs taking up the list haha.

These are the top 10 songs on my Last.fm, not necasarily my top 10 songs.

    10th Place
    Arctic Monkeys- Choo Choo

Not the most well known Arctic Monkeys song. But it is by far my favourite. The funky bass rhythm, the lyrics, the guitar solos, the whole song is well put together and written. The pace of the song changes as well which is also something I love about it the funky start to the heavier guitar and drums, then the little bridge into the solo is excellent. I love the "choo choo" chord sound aswell :P.

    9th Place
    Lynyrd Skynyrd - Tuesday's Gone

One of the more beautiful songs on my top 10. When my friend first introduced me to this song I must of listened to it 20-30 times in a row. The lovely settling guitar introducing you to Van Zants beautiful lyrics and singing. The orchestra piece in this song is a thing of beauty and gives the song the boost it needs to stick in your mind. …
