Jikkenteki is the musical moniker of Rennis Buchner, a musician with over 15 years of experience. Jikkenteki proper came into being in 1999. After spending a year isolated in Japan without any of his musical equipment, he finally had enough and broke down, buying all new gear. In the beginning it was all was very humble gear, nothing like what was left behind in the US, but it was enough. After a phase of looking for direction and a couple of brief one off performances with DJ Spanktronic (under the moniker Shock Absorbing Mechanism), our friendly musician slowly started focusing in on the genre of psychedelic trance, of which he had been a long time fan of.

@djkamikazee: I think one reason that Jikkenteki hasn't reached the fame of Simon Posford and the likes, is the difference in production. All Shpongle music (and Hallucinogen, to a large extent) has been meticulously post-produced, leaving nothing in the sound untouched and thus creating a completely different sound experience that does Jikkenteki. Jikkenteki's sound hence sounds more "home made", if you excuse the expression. Nothing strange about that, and I don't mind personally, but to be frank, I think that's part of the problem. His music has so much more potential than reaching out to this (comparatively) small fan base.

Listening to "The Long Walk Home" at the moment. This guy does something that is unique among goa/psytrance producers: deviates from the conventional 4/4 sound and in plays around with time signatures - yet makes it sound natural. "Different Paths" employs a 7/4 beat, whereas I've heard 5/4, and even one with mixed 6/4 and 4/4 time signatures. Amazing.

Just discovered this artist, and what a unique one. This is the only psy I've found that explores these territories. Its very refreshing to find psy that actually has a concept behind it and isn't just chill music for chill music's sake. No, this music is heavier than that. It's culling from the hidden psyche. A new obsession, without a doubt...

As much as I remember, a lot of his stuff along with some free high ranking downloads from Ektoplazm are generous for the head while driving; not too wild, sufficiently restrained, yet interesting enough, with a somewhat focusing effect on the mind, and if you focus on the material itself it's much deeper than usual shit from the radio.. Simply said, the ratio between hypnotic beat and counterbalancing elements is balanced for (car,..) night driving ^^
