Definitely sounds like Mark's voice. Doesn't really sound like blink though. Awesome song anyway!

From my interview with JKB from 2006: "R.: Were you guys satisfied with the reactions to the Silver E.P.? J.B.: Yeah, very much so. At first it was a few surprises. Some people were really surprised with the song Star – which was good. When people first heard it they were like “Whoa, shit!” and now we’re hearing “Oh, it’s my favorite song ever by Jesu, blablablabla”. It’s really weird. It threw us off quite a bit because of some people when they first heard that song and the reference points they were using were groups we’ve never even heard of. I was like: “Who are these bands?” I read things like: “It sounds just like Simple Plan”. And I was like: “Who’s Simple Plan?” So I was checking this band out and it sounded just like… Diarmuid Dalton: …Blink 182. Justin Broadrick: …Blink 182. Exactly. [laughter] It’s funny, isn’t it?" The whole interview can be read here:

➔ thekillingspree: for serious? Hmm. Blink is a guilty pleasure from my youth, and I'll admit that I can still enjoy them today. But hearing Star for the first time, I immediately noticed similarities. I actually swung by this song's page to see if anyone else heard the drum rhythm and [vague bits of] Hoppus vocals. And truth be told, I'm surprised more people don't feel the same way. But either way, you're correct: this track is phenomenal.

I like blink-182 and Jesu. Apparently, that allows me to better enjoy this song than most of you? Even though I hear no blink-182 or Mark Hoppus in here at all. Fuck that shit, this song is great, I'll take pop Jesu like this over their more recent stuff anytime.

this does sound like pop/ pop punk........ .... but i'm pretty sure Justin Broadrick could cover Nickleback and it would still sound amazing.
