Ventura CA, United States (2004 – 2007)

Jeremy Hox was an American indie rock band. Formed by singer-songwriter Chris Dixon in Ventura, California, Jeremy Hox was originally a stage name used by Dixon; later the “Jeremy Hox” name came to refer to the band at large, and not just Dixon individually. Currently based in Oakland, California, Chris has released several records and EPs on the small, independent co-op SFS Records.

Jeremy Hox began as a solo project in 2004 when Dixon moved back to his hometown after briefly residing in the Los Angeles area, where he played in several bands, including This Engine Burns. His first release under the Jeremy Hox moniker consisted of 6 songs recorded to 4 track cassette tape, and was thus titled Demos 2004 v.1. The release was limited to 50 copies and had the first version of his most popular song to date, “Scruff McGruff, Chicago, IL 60652.”

In the following years Dixon moved around California and was an active member in several different bands (Far From Kansas, Parthenon, Nathan Scott Phillips) but always came back to his own original material. In 2005 Jeremy Hox transformed into a full band with the addition of brothers John Cruz and Frank Cruz on drums and bass, respectively. This line up rehearsed, recorded, and performed in Southern California, though no official release resulted from these collaborations.
