Jefre Cantu-Ledesma is a San Francisco based artist and musician, a founding member of Tarentel and since 1995 has recorded and toured in the US, Europe & Japan with the group. In 2000 after a much needed break from the band schedule he began making solo music under the name Colophon. In 2003 “Love Loops” was released on the Temporary Residence label as part of their mail order only Travels In Constance series. In 2004 he started the Root Strata label and has released recordings from a wide variety of musicians such as Yellow Swans, Grouper & My Cat Is an Alien. Jefre has also been releasing his solo more ambient and experimental based projects for a number of years now.
