Crown Of Creation (3:25)

Cover of Best Of

From Best Of and 50 other releases

This track, like all the others of the time, exemplifies the Psychedelic movement-for those who weren’t around then. These lyrics were for those in search of…spiritually as well as psychologically. There will never be another time like those. It was a very special era. Nala-54 Years Old

Lyrics were based on The Chrysalids, a science fiction novella by John Wyndham.

The song was arranged by Paul Kantner based on the 1955 book "Re-birth" with the permission of author John Wyndham. (f you really think things have changed and Nixon was such a criminal you must be absolutely appalled at the NSA and the news just this week that the CIA was hacking into the computers of the Senate Intelligence Committee. Nixon's only problem was we still believed in ethics back then but we have gotten over that.

"... In loyalty to our kind , we cannot tolerate their obstructions" . In reflection , we almost made it happen '69 - '71 - "Almost" . ... Guess we can at LEAST find ebullience in the fact that we stopped that damn war and squashed Tricky Dick . Ah , life goes on (and on and on) and perhaps our collective manque has developed a sort of immunity , haggard with age , but the lyrically projected ideals remain as does the vocal brilliance - awaiting the receptively effulgent ears of the young and the expansively hip . (The concept is inspiringly hopeful ... The LP as an old book to be read by fresh , inquiring , and even challenging contemporary and future minds .) ... Sorry for the soapbox shout ; maybe it'll make sense to someone . "Life is change"

Life is Change..How it differs from the rocks...I've seen their ways too often for my liking...New worlds to gain...My life is to survive and be alive for you.

oh, that JA sound! Those harmonies. That drummin'. That rip roarin' bass. Jorma's right on leads. Paul's everything. Her royalness and all her exquiste contributions

was privileged to witness a J Airplane concert at Stony Brook University on Long Island way back in the mid 60's. a rare concert that got broke up by the cops when gracie took off her top. i was around 15 and caught hell from my parents when they found out that i went without their permission. the beginning of my rebellion against authority. the beginning of so many memories, mostly good with some bad. no complaints!
