Volunteers is a 1969 album by American psychedelic rock band, Jefferson Airplane. It was controversial at the time because of anti-war messages of certain songs. The original title of the album was supposed to be Volunteers of Amerikkka, but pressure from RCA led to this name being dropped.

  • 'Volunteers of Amerikkka'
  • Easily their best album. 1969 was such an incredible year for music.
  • rating 9/10
  • I don't think the production is bad at all. And the songs and performances are terrific. The band did a great job of incorporating a "roots rock" influence into their sound here and I think it works brilliantly.
  • Their best and one of the best albums of all time. Probably the better managed album of the whole 60's.
  • Jorma Kaukonen take a bow.
  • Good songs but bad production. These songs could sound a lot better, instead I only hear completely failed vocal harmonies and blury instruments
  • Their absolute masterpiece.
  • PRetty much joint top with Surrealistic Pillow for me. Hey Frederick, Eskimo Blue Day and Wooden Ships are 3 absolute masterpieces.
  • OMG, '69., the sound of this album sounds so much more modern than many albums from that era...
