@watsonbrwn: The changes in the lyrics are nods to bootleg Dylan versions from various live performances. All of the "altered" lyrics are still from Mr. Dylan himself. It's really just Tweedy demonstrating his fandom and knowledge of Dylan's catalog, in particular this song. Quite clever really.

This is one of my favorite Dylan songs, so I was almost afraid to listen to this at first even though I love Jeff Tweedy. After listening though, I do have to admit the reinterpretation of the phrasing and lyrics is really quite nice. It's not the song I have loved since I was a teen, but it's a version I can still enjoy listening to & love on its own merits.
