Jeff Harrington is a composer of contemporary classical, electronic and microtonal music from the deep South. He’s also likely the first musician to use the Internet for promotion and music distribution, giving away his scores and MIDI files in the late 80’s through RelayNet BBS’s and FTP sites and then distributing MP2 files in the early 90’s.

His contemporary classical music characteristically uses driving rhythms and intense climactic material. His electronic music, which is typically ambient is noted for its spaciousness and the use of original timbres.

Discovered this guy back when he was on mp3.com (before mp3.com kicked off its entire community of artists in favor of major label promotions and became a pit of fail; bet they're kicking themselves now that social networking is big). Great, great stuff, both the microtonal electronics and the acoustic contemporary classical. My favorite is the New Zion Pastorale.

Jeff Harrington - Experimental and Classical composer is not the Jeff Harrington of "Quiet Corner" and composer of the "Duke's of Hazzard" TV show songs! LOL!
