Jean-Luc Le Ténia (born Jean-Luc Lecourt) was a French singer/songwriter. He was extremely prolific and has written over 2,000 songs. Most of his songs only featured his voice and a guitar but he has also used a synthesizer. He used to sing mostly about everyday problems or universal themes such as love, happiness, anger, sex, hope, … But a lot of his songs were also humorous.

He was discovered while opening for Les Wampas and the singer from that band called him “Le meilleur chanteur français du monde” (The world’s greatest French singer), Jean-Luc later recorded an album named after this statement. He was also considered to be the only representant of the “” genre in France.

He was heavily influenced by artists and bands such as Daniel Johnston, The Beatles, Ramones, Elvis Presley or even Neil Young (he recorded a tribute album of the latter).

He committed suicide at the age of 35 on May 3rd, 2011.
