Jawn Smiff’s music is sweet and funky, melodic and catchy, weird and enjoyable, minimalist and cool. Most compositions feature world-weary lyrics that recall a husky voiced indie-rock Cat Stevens, if he were to borrow a few vox effects from ELO. These soulful vocals are accompanied by impressive impressions of 1970’s-style rhythms and instrumentation that are so catchy, they are almost Lennonesque. The combination of word and song produces some crazy sonic tomfoolery reminiscent of the Residents, Butthole Surfers, and at times, Ween.
