About This Track

“Curbside Prophet” is a song by Jason Mraz. It was released as part of his first major studio album, Waiting for My Rocket to Come, which is one of the lyrics of this song. The song was remixed with additional and modified lyrics for the 2004 film New York Minute. The song’s name was changed to “Curbside Prophet ‘04” on the New York Minute soundtrack. There is also a live version on his first album, Sold Out (In Stereo), released March 21, 2002.

There was no music video filmed for the song other than a live performance recorded at the Eagles Ballroom. This live recording was used for the song’s music video.

As a Grammy winning artist, Jason Mraz has proven to be a witty, intelligent, and playful songwriter. Thus, there is no doubt in my mind that the fun loving, foam hat wearing star knew exactly what he was doing when he wrote the hook to the second single from his major label debut album. While the verses of “Curbside Prophet” tell the story of Mraz’s past, the chorus is a double entendre that is equal parts great metaphor and disturbing mental image. Still love this song, I always sing the "“I like your style crazy pound pup! You need a ride? well come on girl hop in the truck" line to my dog. ;-)

it adds variety but i like when he sings rather then speed talks....but i guess its his style and you gotta respect that and im sure plenty of people think the exact opposite of me. either way props to him for quality tunes.
