i love Japan and can understand the direction they took as the New Romantic scene took of ,although they stayed musically aloof of the chart fodder, but I think there first two albums were fantastic and a great twist on their " New York Dolls " influence

My all time favourite band and then some! total agreement with MedusaPhoenix. My all time fave album is ''Gentlemen'' miles in front of the followers who tagged onto a 'New Romantic' image. but check out their first two albums and see how far they came before Mr Sylvian embarked on a very succesfull solo career which still goes from musical strength to strength

"Living the highlife"... no imitators here. Japan and Sylvian were and are still innovators.... Rain Tree Crow / Nine Horses / Solo material. All worth a listen...

I bought this and loved pretty much everything they did after that. Guitar on this sounds like it's nicked from a Bowie track and DB is pretty close to God-like after all. Vocals like Bryan Ferry too but what the heck, it's still great.
