Previously he founded the Houston band Matty & Mossy and later, in 2009, he formed Lower Dens and, in 2010, toured the USA with Future Islands. He is signed to Gnomonsong, a record label run by Devendra Banhart and Vetiver's Andy Cabic. His solo debut album Blank Unstaring Heirs of Doom was the label's debut release.
