@waxear: I fully agree. How can it be that such an a-class band like JAGA on an a-class label like NinjaTune is joining the loudness war? I had the same experience with The Herbaliser's Take London which I have bought on Vinyl because of that.

I so much love JJ, but looks like it's absolutely necessary to buy a decent turntable to enjoy their music (fortunately Ninja Tune releases vinyl albums). The loudness wars are just ruining it for me - this CD is their loudest and least dynamic to date.
