Biography
Jae Moon is an instrumental hip-hop artist from Sydney, Australia. He is known by his contemporaries for creating a mellow, ambient sound strongly reminiscent of 90s underground hip-hop.
From 2009 to 2011, Jae Moon enjoyed moderate success as one half of the Aussie hip-hop duo, Stories For Nothing, where he provided the role of the rhythm section for Sydney MC Kelton Muir. Together, they performed all across Sydney, playing at such renowned venues as the Oxford Arts Factory (as the before act for Chance Waters), Factory Theatre (as the before act for Horrorshow) and Lansdowne Hotel (as the before act for Johnny Utah).
Jae Moon now collaborates with Sydney MC Casa. Together, they have performed extensively in venues like Hermann’s Bar, the Annandale Hotel and the Collingwood Hotel. Jae Moon produced the first track on Casa’s debut EP, Blindfold, called ‘#4080’. Jae Moon will also be a significant contribution to Casa’s follow-up EP (set to be released in late 2013) due to their growing relationship. You can find all of Casa’s music at thatrappercasa.bandcamp.com
Jae Moon’s debut album, It’s All Good, Baby, was released independently in 2010. It is a rough showcase of some of Moon’s earliest beats, featuring an accessible, jazz-influenced style. The follow-up EP, Aimi, was released later that same year. Moon released his third EP, ‘Masika: Part 1’ in November 2012 and his fourth EP ‘Masika: Part 2’ on Valentine’s Day, 2013.
