Biography

http://exitab.exitmusic.org/album/hit-the-lights
Since his first appearance on the scene a couple of years ago, member of the ill-fated but now legendary Chernobyl Collective, Jacques Kustod has moved further. Influenced by a wide range of musical genres, from krautrock through post-techno to contemporary lo-fi house; Jacques still wants to keep his roots and deliver the experimental/noise scene from which he came. Now residing in Bratislava and with the support of Exitab, his cosmic voyage is exploring even more distant territories. The idea of space tripping and everyday escapism is still floating around, but now more dark and rhythmical. Imagine a darkened house groove filled with bursts of noise, lo-fi gritty rhythms filed with tape hiss and fleeting field recordings taken in the concrete jungle of Slovak capital’s suburbia. Dark galactic ambience of reverbed guitars and sentimental synths proving that Jacques is still reckless space traveller who doesn’t hesitate to jump into the black hole at the heart of the universe itself. ‘Hit The Lights’, his debut release for Exitab, is a massive space crash split into two parts revealing the entire process from the start to the end. With the remix aid of Budapest based Opal Tapes companion S Olbricht and the Prague based Lightning Glove band of Klangundkrach collective, they offer different takes on the collision itself.
