Biography

Tampa, FL (2002 – present, 2006 – present)

Known as a radio personality, performer, recording artist, business owner, music producer and video director, J.Did grew up with a love for music passed through his father. He began DJing and performing raps at local events, talent shows and open mics in the late 90s. In December of 2002, he helped found the rap trio the R.O.C. Wanting to expand his music, he broke off from the group and began to plan a solo career.

In 2006, his first single, “Neva Gonna Stop”, produced by local composer Tah Chi, received some moderate commercial radio play and developed a buzz. In the time that followed “The Kid” has caught the ears of the revolutionary X Clan; performed with underground legend Corey Red; and recorded a song with Royce da 5’9”. J.Did has also had the privilege of working with Grammy-nominated Beatsmith (from Miami’s Hit Factory), tracKings (Juvenile, Benzino), LA the Craftzman (Laws, Warner Bros. Records), Arolace (Benny Blanco), Dre Holmes (VH1-awarded songwriter) as well as many talented up-and-coming artists and producers.

J.Did took a hiatus from music before “Neva Gonna Stop” caught on to the mainstream, citing a dislike of the industry aspect of the music biz and reportedly turned down collaborations with several major-label artists. Since then, he launched a website, www.OvenFreshTunes.com, a podcast and a recording studio in Tampa, FL and continues to be active in the Hiphop community through activism, his podcast, and producing for other artists, most notably his close friends Clok and A.
