It’s Jo and Danny made four albums of lo fi drum machines and accoustic guitar laden folktronica. Songs and instrumentals combine with found sounds and milky vocals. They formed in London in 2000 and The Beta Band djed at their early gigs. Jo Whiley started playing tracks from their debut self released ’ Lank Haired Girl To Bearded Boy’ album on her daytime Radio 1 show. The album gained unprecedented critical acclaim. Jo and Danny left London and moved to the mountains of Wales just when ‘Lank Haired Girl…’ came out. They had released the album on their own Double Snazzy label, the buzz caused by the album’s release led to the duo signing to RCA. This proved less than successful with just one album coming out on RCA , ‘Thug’s Lounge’. They set up Double Snazzy again and released the far better ‘But We Have The Music’ (2003) gaining Album of the Week and 4 stars in The Times and a host of other publications. They also held the first Green Man Festival in the Brecon Beacons in 2003.

‘The Quickening’ saw the duo make totally pure folk music for the first time, with the help of Scottish band, Daimh. The album was again critially very well received but pretty much mis understood by the public at large and caused Jo and Danny to put the It’s J&D moniker to one side.
