Gathering the techno-culture elements of Turkish immigrants, YK formed his own music. Arabesk, rap and techno can be considered as main noticable elements of YK’s sound. These are used to be the main trends of respectively the first, the second and the third generation living in Germany. Also rock and turkish folk music are found in some of the YK’s songs like “Allah Belani Versin” (Eng: God Damn You). It can be heared a zilgit (a scream/severe tongue-lashing used in folk music) behind a guitar solo.

Modernist sides reacted to YK after “Sappur Suppur” is released sensationally in Turkey. They blamed YK being a post-modernist. YK answered to the rumours claiming that his music is not art politically, saying “I lost one of my gloves.”.(He usually wears only one glove)
Fussion of various types of music which are symbols of generation conflict created YK’s music. On the other hand, generation conflict is a theme in YK’s songs. In “Sappur Suppur”, he tells us tragedy of a horny teenager shot from home since he went to a bar to meet girls. Now YK breathes influence on all Turkish musicians living in Germany.
His hit Bombabomba.com is one of the primary songs about internet and tells us a tale about a horny teenager’s excitement in a coupling website.
