Most underrated heavy metal album ever [2] Very melancholy, very progressive. Remarkable climate. Perfect repertoire for Blaze.

Maiden's darkest album, i love it! So much better than the 2 albums that came before

  • EpicGeeza36

Very good album, great dark atmosphere on such tracks as 'Sign Of The Cross', 'Fortunes Of war' and 'Edge Of Darkness'. The sound of the the guitar solos and Blazes voice really take this album to another level

I like this album but it really sounds like it was recorded on a budget. There are a few moments where I think Blaze could've done a better vocal if they'd done a few more takes or put some effects on his vocals, and overall the record just has quite a 'dry' sound. It could do to be a bit more lively (like the sound on Brave New World, for example). I think that's the main reason why the songs often sound better on live albums (not just those with Bruce, Blaze's solo live albums are really good too).

Better songwriting on this one compared to NPFTD and FOTD, if this album would just sound different (more lively) it would probably rank amongst their best.

This album is beautiful in its own way! Just excellent, beats everything Maiden released in the 90's. It's an unique album, like SSOASS, and that's why I love it.

Far and away X-FActor is my favorite IM album along with SIT. Its the minimalistic approach of the music, like jack _rae said : lack of filler.

I think what makes it great is the lack of filler that is apparent on every other Iron Maiden album.

After all of these years moaning and bitching about Blaze's voice, I can finally write , that this is the best Iron Maiden album of 90's ! That's right, it's still the same person, who wrote this masterpiece : Steve Harris ! And he knows, how to write the best fucking metal music! With respect to Bruce, the greatest vocalist on earth , this record is pure awsomness :D

When you've taken the time to get over the "waaah it's not Bruce" aspect of it, you'll find some pretty incredible songs on here.

What a stupid shout... For you Maiden don't have albums between Fear of The Dark and Brave New World? First Blaze Bayley is a good singer, maybe not as good as Bruce, but still he isn't bad at all, AND he is waaay better than Di'Anno who i've always never liked. Second musically these two albums are as good as other Maiden's albums, because we all know who is the main songwriter - Steve Harris. So ... please never say something this stupid.

awsome, brilliant album..just for blaze's voice..dark, very dark music, very dark lyrics..very dark blaze's vocal..lots of people say he doesn't have a range like bruce..that's righ..no he doesn't but he has a style of singing just to suite this album!..steve harris's darkest period in life..bruce left, adrian left, his father died and he got divorced..he needed blaze so badly! bruce can necver sing man on the edge like blaze does..
