I agree, it's not among the strongest of their albums, but in terms of favourite tracks from it, mine are Fear of the Dark, Childhood's End and Afraid to shoot strangers. There are some other pretty good ones, but tracks like Be Quick or be dead sound kind of pop-like to me (same reason why I don't like Can I play with Madness from 7th son album), so I'm not keen on that one, and Fugitive too, but that one for a different reason.

They really tried some different things here, which is good because I agree while NPftD wasn't bad, the songwriting overall could be samey and boring. Most of their experiments in different styles worked, its just that some take some time to get used to and I can understand why other people don't appreciate them. Everyone should give this a second go at least though.

This album has some really overlooked classics. The title track is stunning, BQOBD is a better album opener than Tailgunner could ever hope to be. FHTE and ATSS are both classic Maiden tracks. This album is seriously underrated.
