About this album

In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida is the second studio album by american rock band Iron Butterfly, released in 1968 (see 1968 in music). Except for “Termination,” all of the songs were written by Doug Ingle. The album is also currently available in a deluxe edition CD.

The In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida LP peaked at #4 on the Billboard charts and was given the distinction of being the first album to be awarded platinum status when the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) began that achievement level in 1976. Today it is a multi-platinum album with sales of over 25 million copies. It was also Atlantic Records’ biggest selling album until it was surpassed by Led Zeppelin IV.

The first side of the album is so underappreciated.

I was wondering th same thing. "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" was a whole side of the album. I don't know where the rest came from. I wore the crap out this when I had it on cassette.

Listening to the original vinyl now. The first side is excellent! What a talented bunch of guys. Lee Dorman, in particular, is such an incredible bassist.

Keep on truckin' guys! Have you heard the beat of "1-2, 1-2-3, 1-2-3-4, Lets' Go" of Ron Bushy's solo drum on In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida ? @ Original LP Only please.1967.

I agree with everyone as you have to experience the 17 minute epic version to truly appreciate this song.

I see most of the people here only listen to their music through, which is a shame, because I bought the LP today, got it into iTunes, and the 17 minute version is simply, well, as Lise90 puts it; epic.

click on Iron Butterfly and scroll to the bottom to see their list of songs (and click on "see more" to see the entire list), there you will find at least one version that says "full version", cuz the full version is like 17 minutes long, and it ROCKS!!!
