Tokyo, Japan (1991 – present)

Intestine Baalism is a Japanese band that was formed in Tokyo 1991 by Seiji Kakuzaki (Vocals / Guitars), Takeshi Ohkouchi (Drums) and other unknown local musicians as a thrash metal band. After Katsumasa Yoshida joined on bass in 1992, they switched to playing death metal. Intestine Baalism fuses traditional brutal death metal with melodic death metal in direct, often surprising juxtaposition. After the release of one demo, the label Repulse Records signed the band and released their debut album, An Anatomy of the Beast. Due to several unexpected troubles, the band was put on a hold for a long while. Two remaining members, Seiji and Katsumasa, continued to write music while they were seeking full-time members who were able to dedicate themselves by 100% to the band. In 2000, these were found and the second album was recorded. Banquet in the Darkness was not released until 2003 by Blackend Records. In 2004, Intestine Baalism started working on a third album, titled Ultimate Instinct, which was released in 2008.

why are the japanese so fucking good at everything?

@ArrTheMesia: Liked both bands, however, I doubt most people listening to intestine baalism would like that sort of bands, musically they play a mix of power metal in the veins of Versailles with harsh vocals, I had problems with serpent's vocals at times because they sound a little too deathcore-ish, but I think I could get used to them with more listens. Also, I still can't understand why are those bands (and other similar bands) labeled as melodic death metal when they are clearly not. Good recommendations anyway

Need also to check out band called Veiled in Scarlet - members from Serpent and pretty melodic sound. Japan has so much good stuff... and this is fucking awesome! :-D

Guys, what do you think about Japanese Serpent? I recollected them only today: they are good in melodic leads and I think they are so underrated as Intestine Baalism too... Just listen to Suicide Diary - really like this song.

Intestine Baalism needs to get on MDF 2015 to get some much needed exposure. [2]

Intestine Baalism needs to get on MDF 2015 to get some much needed exposure. Though, they're a bit of a phantom band. They drop albums unannounced, vanish, then rinse and repeat. It's a shame there isn't much they do to have fans keep track of when they'd release music or have teasers. They're far too underrated.

on the contrary, the lyrics on anatomy are probably some of the most realistically evil and deplorable lyrics ever written, so there's that

Yeah, so this band is fucking amazing. The lyrics are all pretty laughably bad, almost to the point of them being actually good, but musically this band is too fucking excellent for words. All albums, no, all songs kick so much fucking ass it's hard to fathom.

Only really listened to Banquet so far, but I'm loving it. Really cool mix of osdm sounding riffing and amazing melodic leads

This band is the perfect balance between brutality and melody. A truly and underrated gem.

An Anatomy of the Beast destroys the Stockholm sound, tbh, good as it is

Their style is unique indeed, because they can combine brutality and melody in the proper proportions. Some of their songs are killers so I do not understand why they are so underrated and have so few listeners here.

First album is an expert emulation of the Stockholm sound.

I can hear some epic Neo-Classical influences in some of their songs, A Knight Appears From The Lake Of Blood's epic melodic part is a perfect example of that! :D I'm so glad I found this band... now it just remains for me to get their albums on CDs too (which I can't find for cheap T_T) >_<
