We saw you from the ocean's side, from under the boat
We saw you making knots, we saw you get the rope
The boy's appearing on the deck and making it lurch
And the bubble of your interest's ready to burst

Getting such a post-punk vibe from this, it's ridiculous.

@Yuri It's a work by Paul Banks. I think there are lyrics by Paul Banks that not even Paul Banks understands. :P

I think it compares sailing with life in general, but I don't really get the "cadaverous mob" part. It may refer to something more especific, or maybe nothing at all, my interpretation is kind of rusty.

Although the bit where he sings "rehearsing interaction" sounds like "nursing an erection"

Am I wrong if I suppose that song is the soundtrack for one of "Shameless" episodes?

Just listening to the version on the 10th anniversary album... Just incredible! My favorite "out of TOTBL" Interpol song, and still, I feel like this second version put it in another dimension... It's so rare for first recordings...

Dark, surreal, and intense. One of the best Interpol songs.

Love both versions, If I had to chose. It would be precipitate version.

the precipitate version is fucking incredible. i mean, the song is sung from the perspective of a sea urchin so the underwater effect used on his voice just provides a further sense of immersion
