i'll give it to this album, it's very consistent. unfortunately, that's a bad thing in this case.

I didn't really like the album on the first listen, but after a couple of listens the first half really kicks in. I can't quite like the second half though, but still a good record from the band. Can't wait for the 5th one coming later this year!

the reason what people hate this album is just for the "B side", but the first half of the album is amazing

What most people don't get here: you can make yourself like anything... and 99.99% of music has some intrinsic worth that you can latch onto. It's like people saying they don't understand the hate that The Strokes' last two albums get. Yeah, if you spend enough time with them or are a certain type of person, they can be great albums. But that doesn't mean they can touch the first three objectively. Same goes for Interpol.

This is a classic slow burner. I recall putting this as a "Big Disappointment" back in 2010 but over the last few years it has grown on me so much. Not as great as TotBL but probably their second best attempt. More cohesive (and darker) than Antics.

The second half of the album is a real let down. A real, real let down. (2)

I like this album quite a bit. It's easy to pass off as a misstep but if you bother to listen closer with a n open mind, it hits quite hard.

I really don't understand why people didn't like this album. Interpol [2010] sounds so perfect and consistent to me. I really like its atmosphere; all songs are also very good. Honestly, it's my favourite Interpol's work. Very underrated, unfortunately.
