Scientists at the Flash free-electron, high intensity laser facility in Hamburg, Germany, have Created a completely new state of matter, Transforming Aluminum into Something "that nobody has seen before," an exotic material which is Transparent to Ultraviolet radiation:
According to Professor Justin Wark—from the Oxford University's Department of Physics—The Discovery is "almost as surprising as finding that you can turn lead into gold with light!" they achieved this alchemical miracle by knocking down a "core electron from every aluminium atom," but without disrupting the metal structure with the laser bombing.
wark says that this will give them Insight into the Creation of miniature stars with High-Power Laser Implosions, "which may one day allow the power of Nuclear Fusion to be harnessed here on Earth." Or destroy us all. [Physorg]By Jesus Diaz

4 Dec 2007, 04:38 by nate32xFor a broad range of ages and sensibilities of people attending our Thanksgiving, I provided background music heavy with tracks from my favorite recent R&B releases. I pulled Keiko Matsui from my wife’s eclectic music collection for some jazzaludes. And of course I snuck some strategic hip hop into the mix. People were trying to be all chill on Thanksgiving, but I caught them loving the music.

What do people assume when they first look at me?
Track: Automatic Husband
Artist: Fiery Furnaces
Comments: Maybe I treat my boyfriend like an automaton. Sometimes he acts like one.
What will be a big challenge in life for me?
Comments: Well, after (sort of) listening to the lyrics, I suppose this could mean that I will have problems dealing with assholes. Seems pretty accurate.
Am I a good boyfriend/girlfriend?
Song: Missing You (Sy & Unknown Remix)
Comments: I do tend to be a bit clingy. But things just aren't as fun without my favorite person around.

16 Apr 2007, 20:05 by kry716While I wasn't involved with promotion/support for the event this year, I still had my 3-day pass from Dumpsterdive and put it to good use, making it out for all three nights to see what ATF and their sponsors (a LOT of sponsors this year, which is a good indication that this production is heading in the right direction) could throw out there this year.
I can't say that there was a whole lot that stood out on the first couple of nights (not that it wasn't good, just nothing remarkable). On opening night, I was really there to see true-schooler, rapper/producer extraordinaire, Insight. More particularly, I was hoping to catch some live renditions of any Soloplexus or ShinSight Trio songs. Alas, there were none. Though Insight did simultaneously rap and draw a picture, which is something I hadn't ever seen before.
First time seeing The Smile Rays live and they were somewhere in between "pretty dope" and "eh, maybe a little gimmicky. …
- "Jungle Boogie" (2000)
- "J'entends les sirènes (Woop ! Woop !)" (2001)
14 Jan 2007, 20:28 by MrModernRockAbout 9 months ago I issued my very first barbershop mixtape. I compiled it a short while after I dove head first into hip hop and I was really happy with the mix. *For those who want the tracklist, here's the journal, and if there are enough requests, I'll upload it again* Anyway, where was I. Yes, I was happy with how the first mix turned out and I've been itching to make another one, but I must admit that when it comes to hip hop albums to pull songs from, I have a limited number to select from. To counter-act this unfortunate situation, one of my New Year's resolutions was to do my best to (somehow) at least double the amount of hip hop albums I own. I ended 2006 with 25 albums, so my target number by the end of 2007 is 50. January is halfway through and so far I have ordered 5 hip hop albums from various places, so I'm off to a great start. I'm not sure how this resolution is going to affect my other resolution to spend less money on new releases...
