BUY tapes? Fuck that, I don't have the money to purchase over-priced imports and rarities on ebay. Notwithstanding all that, I have amassed quite a sumptuous collection of Hans' material, and of the 11-12 albums I've heard so far my favourites are "Visions from Dream State", "Not from Here', "Backworld", "Untitled" and "In Fetal Aura". But he beckons for further scrutiny. His music is in the abstract-hauntology vein, but is almost a mythology all its own, a clandestine and oblique universe forever hidden but always in view; these tapes are the only vestiges of that world, which is now eternally sealed. It is a world akin to to Josh Burke's, Orphan Fairytale's, Vodka Soap's... hallucinatory and amorphous yet visceral and very much a physical presence, somehow. Hauntology is certainly appropriate; oneiric is the keyword, though. I've always yearned for a composer who made this kind of music... I hear this "style" in my dreams!

quite the image in my head: Hans sitting there with his back to the audience and making sounds with his scissor while wearing that crazy mask.
