Comprising two electronic music pioneers, Bernd Madl and Mathias Knopp, Individual Totem began making music in the early 90s and released their home-made album, Aspects Of Theories And Reality in 1994.

Following this, the band was signed to Off Beat in Europe and Pendragon in the United States and released two now-classic CDs: S.E.T.I. in 1996 and Mind Sculptures Flesh in 1997.

Following a nearly ten year hiatus, Individual Totem released the WWW EP digitally on Artoffact Records in late 2007, followed shortly thereafter by a new CD, Mothfly.

In 2009 their original demo Mumia Vera was re-released on Artoffact with a bonus “rarities and remixes” disc.

Kyria 13 is just awful. S.E.T.I. still remains one of my favorite albums of all time. Most everything released on Pendragon was awesome.

In fact, I did like IT in the nineties. Often compared to Mentallo, but I think they often had a more dubby atmosphere you didn't hear to often. Also remember Heavy Water Factory while listening to this.

@versionfiv What an agressive post. Though I cannot agree with everything ilm1138 writes, he didn't sound impolite. Neither does he attack you personally. You do. We're discussing music. It should be fun, serious fun.

Because much of it WAS written in 98/99, then built on and reworked for almost a decade. I don't get how it sounds dated. Because it isn't compressed to hell & back? Because they used some acoustic drum sounds? With the quality of acoustic drum plugins now, others should be so daring as to try it.

mothfly sounds like it should've been released in 1998. i call that dated. and sure Mind Sculptures Flesh is a good album, but like i say, mentallo & yelworc were always one step above.

    A) Versionfiv must be huffing gas, no offense to the fine Mentallo or yelworC. B) IT released MindSculpturesFlesh which was damned near flawless in both consistency and mixing. Every track on that CD was great, zero filler. You could hear everything in that album, the stereo field was huge....the bass was booming without drowning out adjacent frequencies. All this while most other industrial bands from the 90s sounded like canned crap. I actually wore that CD out. C) IT was about 10 years ahead of their time, so they can't be dated.

i only know Mothfly, and it sounds very good for me. there is more complex stuff than this album but it's still more complex than many Industrial / EBM-bands out there.
