1. Incubus is a five-man band formed in 1991, based in Calabasas, California. Members include Brandon Boyd (vocals and percussion), Mike Einziger (guitar), Ben Kenney (bass), Jose Pasillas II (drums) and DJ Chris Kilmore (turntables). Former members of the band include Gavin Koppel (a.k.a. DJ Lyfe) (turntables) and Alex Katunich (a.k.a. Dirk Lance) (bass). The band’s name may seem a peculiar choice to fans, as an incubus is a type of demon that, in mythological lore, comes in the night and has sex with women while they are sleeping; it seduces them in their dreams The story behind the name is that the band needed to think of a name hours before their first show and, after a few failed choices, Mike looked in a dictionary and chose “Incubus” almost at random. Mike says that the name was chosen because it sounded silly; Brandon holds that it was chosen because they were teenagers and the definition had the word “sex” in it. “We really didn’t want to rape women in their sleep. But, we were fifteen and it seemed harmless to us then, and we never changed it,” says the band.

Why do people who listen to metal or any obscure alternative to it have to be so damn full of themselves? Listening to metal doesn't make you any better than anyone. And coming here and calling Incubus a "shitty alt band" just makes you look even more stupid... Please guys, if you listen to ultra fucking heavy intelligent superior metal and you're proud of it, you go create your own country of superior people but leave this shoutbox at once... PLEASE!

Old school death/thrash metal band Incubus was created back in 1986 and even before the shitty alternative rock band start, they had released two full length albums already. In 1999 they decided to change name to Opprobrium to do not engage into legal battle with the alternative rock band... now say me a thing... WHY THE FUCKING HELL THEY DID THAT?! THEY WERE CREATED BEFORE, PROBABLY THEY HAD THE RIGHTS UNDER THE NAME!! WHY?!??!? DAMN CHRISTIANS, AS USUAL, DUMB AS FUCK

I sometimes forget such great songs as "Dig" even exist... I listened to it for days on end in the 8th grade... seems like yesterday :) I still love it though.

"Haha. It's cute that you'd think even old-school Incubus was "death metal"." - It's early death/thrash, or at the very least, "extreme" thrash or "proto-death metal". Calling it death metal isn't as stupid as you think it is, unless you have a problem with people calling Possesed death metal as well.. Or do you think by "old school Incubus" that he meant the pop rock band's earlier material?
