Finally tried Love Kills! again after years. Very good album and very interesting. Most songs have a icy cold feeling and sound and sometimes they're even slightly experimental. They'll always be one of my most favourite ebm / futurepop / dark electro / electro wave whatever bands.
well, that's only your opinion. I agree about Cryogenix and Face The Fear, but I also love some of their EPs (Zauberschloss and Where Sun And Moon Unite for example) and also Exile Paradise (more atmospheric and I like it).
The positive side: "Cryogenix" and "Face the Fear" still stand out as milestones; remarkable releases showing their former unique side, when Ostermann still expressed that certain edge with their sounds, samples and especially his remarkable voice. But that was before them trying to flirt with Rammstein.
..wasn't it enough that after "Love Kills!" they started moving towards standard-fare Pussy-Electro sound, with their lyrics getting cheesier? ("Engelsstaub" anyone?) So much for becoming just that: arbitrary.
"La Parade Monstrueuse" expresses basically the same shit that happened with Combichrist: a former all-electronics act tries to "develop further" with first introducing, then focussing on guitars and acoustic live-drums (retro-anachronistic stuff, so to say). If i want that, i listen to _real_ metal instead, like 'The Sins of Thy Beloved". What a crapload..
La Parade Monstrueuse is still great, but my favourite albums still are Cryogenix, Exile Paradise and Face The Fear. Also, their EPs are often very good, like Where Sun And Moon Unite, Zauberschloss and The Serpent's Kiss. They'll always be one of my favourite "electro-gothic" bands or modern ebm in general.
Looks like we are getting a video of "Tiefer" soon. Based on what I've heard, the song could be made by Eisbrecher. Not bad, though. Not bad at all. Interesting to see ISC venturing properly into the Neue Deutsche Härte -scene. That genre could really use a boost.
The new album "Utopia" coming out September 21st. After listening to amazon's samples I'm fairly excited, although the prominent guitars on some songs reminded me of The Birthday Massacre. Also, they now seem to be releasing on ZYX / Golden Core, instead of Minuswelt. I'm not sure what to make of that.
@Violetdusk. Well, looking at the charts, it is clear that the latest album, La Parade Monstrueuse, dominates - as it should. Then again, if you are more into darker & harsher sounds, you might enjoy the stuff they did 1997-2002. In addition to the albums, ISC has released plenty of EPs with remixes and other stuff, so there's a lot of material to listen to!
Yikes, just heard the remake of Hidden Thoughts on a compilation album, the original is much better, but I can't really call it a "cover" since the main guy in this band was involved in the original song. The song from the 90's was epic (Controlled Fusion did it)!
