Battles in the North is the third studio album by Norwegian black metal band Immortal. It was released on 15 May 1995 through Osmose Productions. It picks up where its predecessor, Pure Holocaust, left off, featuring extreme tempos, lo-fi production and lyrics about coldness and wintery landscapes. This is the first album where the concept of Blashyrkh becomes a central focus; this would continue throughout all of Immortal's subsequent albums.

Grim and blood freezing album. I like these vocals, only drumming is average. It sounds like it was recorded live. But that is not a bad thing [2]

It sounds like it was recorded live. But that is not a bad thing. I wouldn't go so far as to call it sloppy. It's just... authentic.

The vocals could be buried a bit deeper in the mix.

The music is awesome but man is that cover ugly.

lol At an idiot Yhavimoth complaining about a black metal band's production.

Best rec of them imo. Timeless within one of the best blackish vocals ever! Great riffs also, only dc sucks sometimes. Simple but unique cover artwork. Got definetely a better production sound as both previous and following record (ain't including their work from 1999).
