Ikue Mori moved from her native city of Tokyo to New York in 1977. She started playing drums and soon joined the seminal band DNA, with fellow noise pioneers Arto Lindsay and Tim Wright. DNA enjoyed legendary cult status, while creating a new brand of radical rhythms and dissonant sounds; forever altering the face of rock music.

  • for a while i didn't "get" her music, but now i love it, especially One Hundred Aspects of the Moon.
  • i have one of the drum machines she uses- the HR 16B - i recognized it right away when i heard it. for me, it's been a really frustrating thing to use, for a couple reasons, so hearing her songs with it, sounding very unhindered, and even uninhibited, is really nice!
