Limerick, Ireland (2005 – present)

Coming solely from the imagination of Darragh Jennings, Ignorance Manifest began in early 2005 in Limerick, Ireland as a song and poetry project, beginning firstly with the poetry. After he had begun to develop his poetic style over the course of a few weeks, having attended a weekly poetry reading in his hometown and reading some of his poetry there, he began to try and incorporate this sense of poetry into his songwriting, which was itself only in it’s earliest stages of development.

Somewhere around mid-February - March he wrote his first piece, “The Price Of Negotiable Affection”, an instrumental piece, and recorded it on his home computer. Following this, he followed this instrumental with song after song and poem after poem until he compiled a CD of music and poetry containing songs like “Illumination” (an early version), “When Sheep Stray From The Herd” and “Butterflies and Bruises”, and cover versions of “Give Me Novacaine” by Green Day and “The Nobodies (acoustic)” by Marilyn Manson. He recorded these songs and spoken poems on his home computer, and distributed this CD, entitled simply “Ignorance Manifest: A Song and Poetry Project”, among his friends and family, to their general approval.

Bolstered by this success, he continued his poetry and songwriting, but began to keep each in their own seperate vein, and decided not to combine them in the future on a CD as he was unhappy with the flow of the CD after listening to it multiple times after distributed it among his friends and family. By this time, late April, he had compiled a collection of approximately 8 full songs and 2 instrumental pieces.
