Biography

Ice 9 is the ongoing conversation between Boston-based musician Joshua Kahn and a growing collection of instruments, machines and ideas. The documented results can be heard in the company of moving pictures, spoken words and the work of like-minded artists. His most recent work includes creating the soundtrack for smallcanbebig.org.


2)The photo seen here is of the only 7” single by the Portland Oregon punk band Ice 9. Released on their own label Cool Records in 1979. Songs: Out Out Out / Revolting Mess b/w 27.3. Members: Danny Dungeon - guitar and keyboards, later played in Miracle Workers. Bass -John Sogge, died in a car wreck a year after this record. Drums - Count Vertigo.

    So unexpected to find the reference to the Portland band. They were practicing in my garage in 1978. Who posted the photo? John Sogge was a very dear friend.

    Ice-9 (aka I.C.E.) was also an electronic artist out of Canada - there was a track called Strange Attractor on a CFNY compilation back in the early '90s. I also recall some acid house stuff in the late '90s.
