There are two artists called IOS, 1) A Dutch band whose name stems from Is Ook Schitterend - hard to translate in English but it would be something like ‘It’s brilliant too’. 2) A French alternative rock band.

1) IOS was set up in 1996 by a group of friends from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. They play so-called ‘Nederpop’, which is pop music with Dutch lyrics. The band consisted first of Joost Marsman (Vocals), Rubin Geurts (Drums) Sander Rozeboom (Guitar), Matthijs van Dongen (Guitar), Jasper Bos and Marc van der Voorn (piano). After their first success with the song ‘Voltooid Verleden Tijd’, from the album ‘Hemel & Aarde’ Van der Voorn decided to leave IOS. He wasn’t replaced.

IOS’s next album was released in 1999 and was called ‘Dichterbij’. This was their breakthrough to the main audience. In 2001 Geurts decided to quit and was replaced by Dim Junius. For a while nothing was released by the band and they decided to change their artist label to CNR Records. With their album ‘4’, released in 2005 they made a big success with the single ‘Uit de schaduw’ which is known from a commercial. In December 2005 Dim Junius stopped drumming and was replaced by Pepijn van den Boogaard. In October 2007 released the cd ‘Open’, its title track the first single.
