This name is referred to several bands:

1) A British Jazz/Progressive Rock fusion band from The Seventies. Formed in 1969 by Dave Quincy (saxophone, flute), Dick Morrissey (saxophones) and Terry Smith (Guitar). With J.W. Hodgkinson on Vocals and Dennis Richardson on Drums, (later to join Foreigner).
The band made a number of fine fusion albums before folding in the mid seventies.

Not to be confused with the later nineties Dutch Techo Band I-F.

2) A progressive rock band from Petacciato (Italy). They started playing both covers and own tracks in 1993; from 2000 to 2004 they found an asset, then issued 4 records:

Line-up is:

Franco Bussoli - bass guitar
Paolo de Sanctis - vocals
Luca Di Pardo - drums
Claudio Lapenna - keyboards and vocals
Dario Lastella - acoustic and electric guitars, synth and vocals

Official website:

3) A Los Angeles based band, playing ‘moody-melodic, indie rock with hints of funk, punk and classical music’. They have released one self-titled six-track EP so far.

Отличнейшая группа, например. Жаль, что непопулярна.

Magnificent band!! Their unique mixture of jazz, rock, pop and a certain orchestral touch is translated in beautiful and strong songs. They deserve more recognition ...

Love the first two albums. For me they're a great mix of instrumental excellence and uplifting melodies (delivered excellently by JW Hodgkinson).

Have listend to IF(1) a few times now; initially it's not easy listening. The hightlights are the excellent solos particularly the flute/sax on track 2, and I quite like some of the singing by J W Hodkinson, who I have not heard of before. But I find the tracks are not big on melody, and they are all at the same tempo (fast or medium fast). Also the flow is broken up by what I call fanfaring, (long repetition of notes bringing a movement to and end)which disrupts the flow unpleasingly. So my first thoughts were it's not worth it's four stars. But after a few times it's growing on me and I'm warming to it some.

One of the better British Jazz/Rock outfits with a great vocalist in J. W. Hodgkinson.
