Biography

Warren, Detroit MI, United States (2006 – present)

I See Stars are a band formed in Warren, Michigan in 2006. The band’s lineup consists of Devin Oliver, Brent Allen, Jimmy Gregerson, Jeff Valentine, Andrew Oliver, and Zach Johnson. Johnson left the band after their debut album 3D was released, and Chris Moore took his place at screamed vocals/keys/programming. Johnson returned after Moore left the band due to “artistic differences” and joined the band on Warped Tour 2010. 3D was released through Sumerian Records, where they’ve since remained.

I See Stars plays a mix of and with some and elements also included. They use clean, sometimes synthesized vocals, along with screamed vocals.

The band released their second full-length album The End of the World Party on February 22, 2011. The album is noticeably different from 3D as it’s a lot less heavy and more pop punk sounding. They played Soundwave 2011 in Australia, supported We the Kings alongside VersaEmerge in the United Kingdom, and played on the 2011 AP Tour along with Conditions, VersaEmerge, Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows, and Black Veil Brides. The band also made its national TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live performing “Glow” and “What This Means to Me.”

I See Stars are currently on the 2011 Scream It Like You Mean It tour supporting its headliners Breathe Carolina and Chiodos, and also featuring Mod Sun, The Color Morale, and The Air I Breathe.

When it became a plague. And super lame. Like in this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdqOgwHUva8 Totally ruins the pacing and serves no purpose what so ever other than being annoying and stupid.

Never did I intend to say that it was varied in itself. But it's still RELATIVELY varied compared to the likes of NZT48 and Filth Friends Unite. As for atmosphere, that is pretty much the only well functioning purpose a breakdown can serve. Like in this track. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zu4fXg7j6xk

breakdowns aren't just there for "atmosphere". they are the logical climax of a metalcore or metalcore related song. if i were to stretch it, i'd give you endless sky, but nothing about nzt's verses are boring whatsoever. possibly one of the most engaging songs in all scenecore. oh and varied popcore? yer kiddin me rite?

As for NZT48 and Endless Sky, the only thing that's good in those songs are the choruses. The verses are super-boring. Which is so often the case with modern Post-Hardcore. Filth Friends Unite is a little bit better, but not that much. As for EOTWP, then yes. It IS Popcore. But it's still way more varied and enjoyable than the non-stop Chugcore of DR. 3D I shall not mention, for I haven't bothered to listen to it.

What's wrong with complaining about breakdowns?

but what should i expect from the kid who cries about breakdowns in metalcore songs

eotwp is boring popcore. if i wanted popcore, i'd go to the masters of it (sleeping with sirens). the only good song on that was the title track. meanwhile, DR has NZT48, Endless Sky, and Filth Friends Unite, which all beat that song out by a mile. I mean, even 3D with The Common Hours and Save the Cheerleader Save the World is unfathomably better than that cute lil album for the fangirls

From what I've heard, 3D is even worse than DR, Which means the proper ranking would be: EOTWP > DR > 3D.
