In 1993, producer Joe Ferry started an experimental rock group that he called The Hurtin' Buckaroos. The band recorded its now legendary debut cassette entitled "3 Stories" that first year and played a number of shows to appreciative and somewhat stunned audiences. In 1995, Shanachie A&R Director Charlie Dahan (now Ferry's business partner) invited the band to record tracks for an album he was compiling, "Skandalous: I Gotcha Covered Vol 2".
