Biography

Andy Yeoh and Simon Miller are HOT FICTION, a two piece garage rock and blues band from the UK. They’re out there now! Gigging, writing, recording and loving every note.
Hot Fiction evoke Hendrix’s Band of Gypsys with their unusual but effective pairing of a virtuoso singing-drummer with an exciting guitarist. Si forcibly wrings each note from his guitar and provides all of the hip-shaking and foot-shuffling that Hot Fiction’s music demands. Meanwhile, Andy’s deep blues vocals emerge from behind his kit, riding atop a crashing wave of thunderous drumming. The result is riff-based garage soul music. It creates the same blood-in-the-guts feeling that the best blues music does, but has a charm and atmosphere all of its own.
If the Black Keys and the White Stripes had both turned up at a Jimi Hendrix gig, been invited along to the after-party hosted by the Eagles of Death Metal, fallen in love and, that Autumn, marched down the aisle to be married by Seasick Steve with Queens of the Stone Age as the wedding band – and everyone in the chapel was dressed like a pirate – it might have sounded a little like Hot Fiction.
The boys met in school, jamming and riffing with their friends. Both natural showmen, they soon emerged as an unmistakable paring. Before long, they were honing their skills late into the night after class and cutting their teeth in front of their peers. University and a number of musical projects followed until finally the two re-convened to form Hot Fiction in 2008. Since then they have pioneered a new British style of garage rock. Excelling in a live environment, their shared sense of musical understanding is spell-binding to the audience.
Having recently released “Dark Room”, their debut album (7th June) the band are keen to get the word out and have begun their touring in earnest. This year they are working hard to expand their London and Bristol fan bases. Even better, the band have a newly discovered love of the festival scene, so watch out for the boys at a beer-soaked, tent-packed Summer show near you!!
