It's the story of a very unfortunate colored man
Who got arrested down in old Hong Kong
He got twenty years privilege taken away from him
When he kicked old Buddha's gong

  • George Harrison covered this song and Baltimore Oriole on his "Somewhere In England", I loved it!!!
  • Chris Patton's theme song
  • hemingway...did i mention hemingway?
  • "to have and have not" is one of those films that might be my favorite: its impossibly laden with an entirely mythological collection of 20th centrury icons: hoagy carmichael, howard hawkes, humphrey bogart, raymond chandler, william faulkner, lauren bacall at a scintillatingly sophisticated 19 years old: simply unreasonable.
  • a little earlier for me. this is a different version, sometimes its 'loco man' but this is like the one i remember growing up, with it being 'opium'. btw, kicking ol buddha's gong: hitting some sweet ol opium. i don't do that, i think this song might be slightly p. in c.
  • I think I've loved this one since I was about 10 years old! :-D
  • Brilliant!
