Hills Like White Elephants was a musical collective based out of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. While initially based around a four-member standard indie-rock setup, the group has expanded to comprise up to eight members at a time. They incorporate a range of instruments into their aesthetic, such as violin, trombone, theremin, synthesizer, organ, accordian and glockenspiel.

Their sound might be described as a synthesis of melodic indie-rock/pop (Stars, Broken Social Scene…) with post-rock (Mogwai, A Silver Mt. Zion…) and more experimental forms of aggressive music (Envy, Kidcrash…). Song structures tend to forego conventional repetitious setups, with phrases/passages often appearing only once, and feature frequent builds and breakdowns. Songs tend to remain fairly short (3-5 minutes).
