Fuzz acid west coast rockers, jangly folk rock, some bluesy psych jammers. It’s all here and done with verve. Pre B.F.Trike.”
Perhaps there are two bands by this name. The art work for Fresh Produce (seen below) is by a five-piece folk-bluegrass-rock band from the DC area. It featured vocal and guitar work by Mark Walbridge; fiddle and guitar by Pete Tenney; fiddle, mandolin, pedal steel and guitar by Sam Morgan; vocal, banjo and hammered dulcimer by Bob Shank; with Glen McCarthy providing the bass support. Everyone helped out with percussion, where needed. Fresh Produce originally appeared in 1975 on the Flying Fish label. Produced by Michael Melford and recorded in Vermont, Maryland and Colorado.
A 1978 relase on Flying Fish was called Crossing Devil’s Bridge. David Rice took over on bass and Hank Pittman filled the void with drumming and percussion. This release rocks a bit more than Fresh Produce with Walbridge letting it fly a little more freely. Recorded at studios in DC and northern Virgina and produced by individuals associated with each studio. It is doubtful that a CD version of this recording exists.
