Biography
Folk, classical, balladeer and medieval linked with experimental, electronic sounds! Hekate is hybrid music: the combination of historical and modern style elements to a multi-faceted music style!
The band was founded in 1993 and since that time it has produced seven albums. The involvement with old myths, legends and fairy tales is quite typical, the very own Style of Hekate, and reveals the roots and cultural background of the band. Besides, archaically seeming rhythms, trance-like and ritual elements underline the spiritual character of the music and the intention to take up the concealed wishes, longings and dreams of the listeners.
The most intensive way to understand the band’s concept is to experience a live gig of Hekate. The music evolves by a rich choice of different musical instruments, the alternate singing of Axel Menz and Susanne Grosche and the common understanding and harmonious teamwork of the five musicians.
In the end, the name Hekate, the goddess of the underworld, represents the intention of the musicians: to move mystic, secrets, myths …in powerful manner.
