From his bedroom to the billboard charts rapper Brandon “Heazy” Heath has been prepping for his big break since the age of 11. His journey began in Garland, Texas, a suburb a couple miles outside of Dallas. Fascinated with writing rhymes but limited to very little recording studio options he concocted a way to record his music onto cassette tapes. Heazy would spend most of his adolescent years locked in his bedroom with his best friend and producer “J-Hen” making songs about their life experiences and honing their crafts. They continued to create music throughout their early high school years and even dropped two albums from Heazy’s bedroom studio which they boosted throughout their high school hallways. Unfortunately, due to creative differences during their senior year the rapper/producer duo decided to go in different directions musically. Around that same time Heazy began to work with up-and-coming producers “Stunt N’ Dozier”, who would eventually produce billboard smash hits such as “Dorrough – Walk that Walk” and “Trap Starz Clik – Get it Big”. In the summer of 2004 the three of them along with two aspiring rap artists, “Seven Seas” and “Braysonic”, crafted their first mixtape and caught the eye of a veteran music manager looking to start his own independent music label. After a summer long process of meetings and negotiations Heazy and his rap counterparts were offered a deal.
