There is more than one artist with this name, so please leave the pic with both bands.
Il y a deux groupes du meme nom, alors, svp, laissez la photo avec les deux groupes, merci!

1. A British indie/twee pop group formed in 1989 and disbanded in 1996.
2. A French heavy metal band formed in 1994.

1. Heavenly was a 1990s band, originally forming in Oxford, England in 1989. Amelia Fletcher (vocals), Mathew Fletcher (drums; Amelia’s brother), Peter Momtchiloff (guitar) and Robert Pursey (bass) had all been members of Talulah Gosh, a key member of the scene which preceded the twee movement, formed in 1986.

Heavenly debuted with the 7” single I Fell in Love Last Night, followed by another 7”, Our Love Is Heavenly, both released in 1990 on Sarah Records. Heavenly Vs. Satan, the group’s debut album, came out in 1991. At this stage in their career, Heavenly’s songs were still mainly concerned with an innocent view of love, whether or not requited, and the instrumentation remained very much the same jangly guitar style used by Talulah Gosh.

Before releasing the critically acclaimed Le Jardin de Heavenly, Cathy Rogers (keyboard, back-up vocals) joined the band. Her harmony vocals and keyboards became an integral part of the group’s sound. Another strikingly different element of the group’s second album was the inclusion of the track, PlayC Is the Heavenly Option, featuring the guest vocals of K Records founder Calvin Johnson, who released Heavenly’s records in the USA. The song even featured Amelia Fletcher rapping, after a fashion. Calvin Johnson would go on to provide additional guest vocals on each of the Heavenly albums following Le Jardin de Heavenly.

I like to think that there aren't actually two bands called Heavenly, just the twee pop outfit went in a strange new artistic direction this millenium.

I just corrected amazon who have the album available for preorder as "Heavenly" by "Carpe Diem". Sigh. They did a similar thing with Elvenking's last album, called it "Two Tragic Poets" when the album cover on the same page clearly states "Two Tragedy Poets". Those guys need to start paying attention to detail.

we already went over the split thing, guys. most people on here don't care about this war or even know it exists. most listeners won't change their tags so it'd be useless to do.. i don't want to retag my mp3s to scrobble. you know, these aren't the only bands with this problem, and other pages manage to get along just fine (like bis, there's the scottish band and then the japanese one). i'm a twee fan. i think the twee group did more for music than the metal band seems to have, but the metal band indeed has a presence in their scene. everyone vote up the split pic. it is only fair.

@postcoitusrock: When I asked the childish twee fans to stop being childish it was on Sunday...im sick and tired of the number of times the twee fans have been downvoting the pic with BOTH bands. So far this week ive seen the pic change 2 or 3 times to the pic of the twee band.

Also, I'm from mexico XD One thing I love about power metal is that the leading bands are all from different countries, for example, Dark moor is from Spain, Heavenly is from France, Blind Guardian is from Germany, Hammerfall is from Sweden, Kamelot is from USA and Rhapsody is from Italy.

Well actually heavenly is just what you could say, a very good group, not one of the leaders but one of the best power metal groups out there along with Darkmoor, Alestorm, Freedom call, Rhapsody and so. To be sincere, I have very few knowledge about "twee pop", that's why I listened some of the songs of the Heavenly [twee pop] songs to see what was it about. The split photo is the best solution as of now, but the songs should be splited as well, since the first time I wanted to know about the band [metal] I came here and listened to the twee band songs instead of the metal ones and thought that i might have mispelled the name. This is the main issue, the confusion between both bands.

sorry but i wasn't really getting that sentiment from your last shout. last.fm don't have a great track record for listening to it's users though. the best we can do is recognize that being nice and keeping the split picture is the best solution for both camps. i have no idea what impact metal-heavenly have had on the power metal scene because i don't know anything about the power metal scene so i don't comment on it.

postcoitusrock i think you are right, i just didnt like the "Twee pop" fans attitude about how they deserve the "name" or "space" more than us (and no, not "metal heads" since i like what you could call "soft" metal, just Heavenly [metal] fans). Twee pop must also hate to have to share the space with a group which genre is almost the opossite of Twee pop. Instead of throwing rocks at eah other, better get to complain to last.fm so they separate the bands for genre (let's say Heavenly [twee pop] and Heavenly [power metal] ). If there is anywhere where we can "sign" a petition or something please let us all know.

why the hell would you support that when you just asked twee fans to stop being childish? is it that hard to understand that twee fans feel as passionate about pop-heavenly as you do about metal-heavenly and vice versa?
