Biography

There are at least two groups with this name.

1. A group composed of current and former members of Black Sabbath.
2. An electronic group from Contraseña Records who have released the Alive & Kicking (Single).

Heaven and Hell were a music collaboration featuring current Black Sabbath members Tony Iommi and Geezer Butler along with former members Ronnie James Dio (RIP) and Vinny Appice. Founding member Iommi decided to name the group Heaven and Hell as the original lineup of Black Sabbath (featuring Butler, Iommi, Bill Ward and Ozzy Osbourne) is still active but on hiatus. Ward was originally part of the Heaven and Hell line-up, but it was announced on the fan-run Black Sabbath website that he was standing aside for Appice.

The possibility of a reunion of the lineup which created the Black Sabbath album Heaven and Hell in 1980 was first announced on the Spanish site Rafabasa on September 28, 2006; however with Appice in place of Ward the line-up is now that which recorded the 1981 album Mob Rules. Dio had previously announced that he and Iommi had written a new track for a proposed Black Sabbath box set consisting of music from the two periods in which he was present in the band. This set, Black Sabbath: The Dio Years, is a single-CD release featuring three new tracks, ‘Shadow Of The Wind’, ‘The Devil Cries’ and ‘Ear In The Wall’.

The reunion was officially confirmed by an announcement on Tony Iommi’s official website.

@wojtekdio "March Metal Madness 2013" is the most stupid game I've seen in my life. In other words that game is BULLSHIT! >> How can they compare those two artists/bands or their albums??? Comparing hard rock/heavy metal and progressive metal genres? Are they normal???

Rest in peace RJD. Listening to The Devil You Know reminds me of the powerful imagery his lyrics conveyed and how, throughout his career, he took part in creating some of the hard rock music which I consider to be of the highest caliber.

And so Neon Knights Live At Wacken is Heaven & Hell playing 3 of their songs and covering 8 Black Sabbath songs. I just don't limit myself to the name.

There are people tagging Black Sabbath as Heaven & Hell and Heaven & Hell as Black Sabbath... But, in my opinion, the most retarded thing is: The Dio YearsWTF?!? Tagging that compilation album as H&H DOESN't MAKE ANY SENSE!

So the problem is there are people tagging heaven & hell as black sabbath? Well, that's pretty retarded to be honest.

v you don't fucking understand, this band is not Black Sabbath, different band all together same members as Dio era sure, but not Sabbath, different name, different band, Iommi has dealt with this conflict in a metal hammer interview in 2010... all you have to do is read the god damn fucking bio to you idiot, its also false labeling and if agents/record company wanted to they could try and fine you fore it, learn some law while your at it bud, start labeling them correctly, you mother fucking twat.

"they are not Sabbath when they are Heaven and Hell" That's the point for me. As I see it that way I tag it that way, nothing wrong with that.

they called the band Heaven and Hell because if they Called it Sabbath they would be on contracts and Ozzy would get some royalties, its not Sabbath they are not Sabbath when they are Heaven and Hell...and when I see people say shit like " I tag all the Dio era Sabbath as Heaven and Hell" It makes me so mad because that's fucking Sabbath not Heaven and Hell...all of you are over thinking such a fucking easy concept, Tony Iommi would slap you all foe being so stupid.

They called the band Heaven and Hell in order not to piss Ozzy off and I can understand that. But we all know who the fuck they are anyway, don't we?

I tag Martin era albums as Black Sabbath unless they decide to reform the band under a new name. Therefore I'll tag Headless Cross under the new name.

No, it was Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio, and later with Vinny Appice too. So how do you tag Martin era albums? Headless Cross? He has a band called Headless Cross with Geoff Nicholls... They both were in Black Sabbath, it's the same situation. :P
