When He Is Legend signed to Solid State Records, the band had already stirred a blaring buzz all their own. But they were just getting started. 2004 put He Is Legend on the map and on the move. In June, the five North Carolina natives released their debut EP, 91025 with Tribunal Records, a label most noted for helping launch the careers of bands like Atreyu and From Autumn to Ashes. The release received rave reviews, stirring the anticipation even further for He Is Legend’s debut full-length album, I Am Hollywood, released November 2nd, 2004.

Their sophomore album, Suck Out The Poison, was released on October 3rd, 2006, featuring more raspy vocals. It received mixed reviews from long-time fans due to a major difference in vocalist Schuylar Croom’s vocals and is still disputed to this day.

In 2009, He Is Legend announced that they will be taking a musical sabbatical in the forest surrounding North Carolina recording studio, Warrior Sound Studio. They also claimed that the material written during this hiatus will be used to create a record “literally made of solid gold (figuratively speaking). The bands latest album, It Hates You was released on July 21, 2009.

*The bands roots reach back into the late 1990’s when Adam Tanbouz, Steven Bache, Matt Williams, guitarist McKenzie Bell, and vocalist Schuyler Croom began writing and performing around Wilmington, NC. In 2003, having previously played under the names of Stronghold, No One Wins, and The Uriah Omen, the name He Is Legend was adopted by members Tanbouz, Bache, Bell, Croom, and Williams.

one of my favorite artists ever, one of those cool jack of all trades types that fit no matter the mood.

some great songs on heavy fruit, for sure, but despite many listens this still falls under all the previous albums for me. still, i'm glad it exists. really didn't think we'd have another HiL album after the post IHY hiatus. in that respect, i appreciate this album quite a bit.

Top 5 favorites from Heavy Fruit: No Visitors, I Sleep Just Fine, Beethozart, The Carpet, and Heavy Fruit. I'm sure that will change a hundred times as time goes on.

Love the new album. Feels like a natural follow-up to It Hates You. The end of I Sleep Fine is definitely distorted on purpose though. Feels like something the Chariot would do to a song.

I gotta say it's nice to see the new album actually having a dent in the charts, I thought The Seduction would never leave ;)

@Donaonbestmo : They haven't been close to post hardcore in a decade so it seems pointless to bring that up again. I can get the slow argument if you're not familiar with southern rock though. To each their own.

He Is Legend releases their first album in five years, yet you're all only talking about that one intentional part. Hilarious

really not into this album at all from the few listens i've managed. there's like 2 songs that make me want to come back. i'll give it another couple tries but very weak for me.

"Is it weird that the end of I Sleep Just Fine is my favorite part of the album? It's absolutely crushing and all-encompassing." I feel they just pointlessly ruined an otherwise good song, to me it sounds like pure shit and static coming through my speakers, will hardly ever scrobble this one

My god the new record is slow as hell! Still some good songs and everything but no hardcore/post-hc music can be heard on this one :/

I also love how they bring it back in Beethozart, Adam is the man.

@CrabHammer1 I love it too. Probably the heaviest piece of music in their discography. I actually like how distorted and fucked up it sounds. Can't wait to get the CD so I can blast it in the car.
