Version 29

Early pioneers of music, Hawkwind began in the late 1960s as a band, and would later be hailed as progenitors of what would become “”; a style informed by both and , instantly identifiable by its marriage of distorted synthesizer sounds, intricate bass rhythms and jagged guitar riffs.

Hawkwind’s long and muddled history is marked by a revolving door of line-up changes. “Captain of the ship” Dave Brock, is the single constant, though other prominent band members have included Lemmy Kilmister (who would go on to form Motorhead), Nik Turner (at varying times also of Inner City Unit), Robert Calvert, Huw Lloyd-Langton, Simon House, Cream’s Ginger Baker, Harvey Bainbridge and Alan Davey.

Hawkwind continue to record and tour to this day, with the current line-up consisting of Dave Brock, Mr. Dibs, Tim Blake, Richard Chadwick and Niall Hone.
